Hillingdon Neighbourhood Watch promotes Immobilise

Hillingdon Neighbourhood Watch, one of the largest Neighbourhood Watch networks in London, has been promoting Immobilise at community events, encouraging residents to register and mark their valuable possessions.

When valuables are registered, they are easier for police to identify if they are recovered after being lost or stolen. A clear ownership record can help police return items to their rightful owners and may also provide useful evidence during an investigation.

Partnerships and Community Engagement

The group recently collaborated with Barclays Bank at an event on Uxbridge High Street. Following the success of that event, Hillingdon Neighbourhood Watch was invited to take part in a further community event with Lloyds Bank. These partnerships have helped raise awareness of practical crime prevention measures and encouraged greater involvement in local safety initiatives.

To support the events, Immobilise supplied leaflets, posters and pocket-sized advice cards with clear guidance on property marking and registration. The materials gave volunteers something useful to hand out, explaining how marking and registering valuables can make them easier to identify and return to their owners if lost or stolen.

The Importance of Property Marking

Dave Ludlow, Chair of Hillingdon Neighbourhood Watch, commented:

“It’s really important that residents take the time to mark their property, as this can significantly assist the police in returning stolen items to their rightful owners. Following a recent arrest, officers recovered a vehicle full of suspected stolen property, but only a small proportion of the items – around 10% – had been marked in a way that enabled the victims to be identified.

Immobilise provided us with leaflets, cards and large posters, which have proved invaluable as conversation starters at our community engagement events.”
