Trace – America’s largest database of stolen goods

A unique due-diligence resource for US citizens

Beware of the faceless selling of second-hand goods

Recipero took over the running of the Trace database in late 2009 and re-launched the platform in July 2010 after a major rebuild of the datasets and search functionality. Trace holds many millions of records of stolen property from over 20,000 agencies in the US which is searchable by serial number or description. The breadth of items listed is extensive ranging from fine art and antiques to technology devices like mobile phones and laptops.

Trace is unique as a free resource for the US citizen to run a simple free due-diligence check prior to buying an item of used goods be it from a second-hand store, auction or classified site or pawnbroker. Currently the system can also be searched by Law Enforcement to identify stolen goods and by the pawn and second-hand trade at no cost. This will change in the coming weeks as an updated CheckMEND service for the US trade is launched and the US version of the NMPR is made available to all US law enforcement agencies.
