Report My Loss
The UK Police endorsed Lost Property Reporting System
ReportMyloss allows the public to record lost property online, get a loss report number and for the Police to search the information nationally via the NMPR.
The taking of lost property reports is not a legal requirement for the police however the Home Office recommend forces continue to offer the service unless a suitable alternative can be provided.
In association with Avon and Somerset Police Force reportMyloss has been developed to allow forces to provide a highly cost efficient service for the reporting of lost property. The service can be used directly by the public online or via a police station or call centre. The service is designed to allow the public to receive a lost property report number and certificate of report that can be used by insurers, and also to provide a national lost property database which is searchable via the NMPR.
The service offers very considerable cost benefits as well as increasing the chances of identifying the owners of recovered property.
Convergence
In addition it is widely accepted that a certain amount of property reported as lost may have
been stolen and subsequently involved in criminal activity. By consolidating the checking of
lost property nationally via the NMPR all the data will be housed in one system allowing cross
referencing of crime reports with lost property information.
The system is designed to be fully auditable to allow the relevant authorities to check that stolen goods are not being
reported on the system. For further information please contact Recipero Limited.
