Immobilise

The National Property Register

Immobilise is the world's largest free, off-site, online possession and asset ownership registration service used by both the general public, businesses and government.

How does it work?

Each member has their own online account where they can register or remove as many items as they wish free of charge and generally housekeep their account in a variety of different ways. This means that if a member changes their contact details they simply update their details online, they do not have to change any markings on the items. Every item is registered by use of a unique identifier such as the make, model, serial number, or in the case of a mobile phone the IMEI number.

Stolen Property

What are the benefits of registration?

In the event of loss, theft or disaster such as fire or flood all the information relating to possessions or company assets are available from any Internet connected device. This is hugely valuable to assist in reporting the information accurately to the Police and insurance companies.

Uniquely in the UK all the registered information and contact details are viewable by the UK Police via their online property search system called the NMPR. If any item is reported lost or stolen by a UK member on their account this additional information also appears on any Police search.

This means the Police can search any item of recovered property quickly and easily, return any registered goods and investigate any criminal activity surrounding its recovery.

On a global basis any item reported stolen or lost by an Immobilise member is automatically added to the global trade and public stolen property database called CheckMEND. CheckMEND is the largest trade and publicly searchable database of stolen property in the world allowing traders and members of the public to check that any second hand item they wish to purchase has not been stolen.

Members can also add photographs and produce certificates of ownership, which can be used to help report accurately any subsequent loss or theft. The certificates are also very useful in advising insurance companies about "specified items" on content insurance.
