CheckMEND Transaction Submissions
CheckMEND facilitates the submission of trade transactions to Law Enforcement
In countries such as the USA businesses accepting second-hand items are required by law to provide details of the transaction to law enforcement. This would include businesses accepting trade-in's or for example pawnbrokers purchasing used goods.
In addition to CheckMEND's ability to perform due-diligence checking on serial numbered consumer goods, where applicable it now also offers traders the facility to submit transaction details online to a database that can be searched by US Law Enforcement at no cost.
CheckMEND in the USA has incorporated Police crime data from over 18,000 agencies following its recent acquisition of the Trace.com service. For the first time buyers of used goods can supply their transaction information to the Police and also check their local forces crime reports to avoid buying stolen property.
The service is undergoing a trial with Boston Police Department and it is planned that it will be made available to all their pawn and second-hand dealers soon. The results of this pilot will provide the template for the service in the US to be rolled out to all US law enforcement agencies and all businesses that accept or trade second-hand goods.
